THE FIRE BRIGADE - THE BOYS AT PUSAN

From the Halls of Montezuma,
To the shores of Tripoli;
We fight our country's battles
In the air, on land, and sea;

First to fight for right and freedom
And to keep our honor clean:
We are proud to claim the title
Of United States Marine.

Our flag's unfurled to every breeze
From dawn to setting sun;
We have fought in every clime and place
Where we could take a gun;
In the snow of far-off Northern lands
And in sunny tropic scenes;
You will find us always on the job
The United States Marines.

Here's health to you and to our Corps
Which we are proud to serve;
In many a strife we've fought for life (Truman vs USMC 1947 for one)
And never lost our nerve;
If the Army and the Navy
Ever look on Heaven’s scenes;
They will find the streets are guarded
By United States Marines

Perhaps it is the honor with which the Marines (and the US military in general) serve, that makes what the Left do what it does (protest Marines doing a commercial in San Fransicko, protest US Marine recruiting stations in sh*tholes like Bezerkley, Mexifornia, and worse of all, use scumbags like Henry Waxman to get Code Pink to send supplies to terrorists fighting against Marines in Fallujah so disgusting to any American worthy to hold that name. (Please God, let me find Waxman or a Code Pinker in dire need one day that I might sh*t in their mess kit and rain piss on their traitorous head(s)).

Consider the Forgotten War, Korea, 1950. After the Communists, encouraged by Dean Acheson's speech that stated that South Korea was "outside of our defensive perimeter," poured over the border in June, they rolled over Task Force Smith (another liberal disgrace) like a speed bump, the Pusan Perimeter (60-by-90-mile rectangle) was the only thing between the commies and victory. The Truman Administration had attacked the Marine Corps' very existence in 1946/47 and tried to disband us, as Truman hated the Corps. In fact, it was Truman's SecDef, Louis Johnson, who had recommended HUGE cuts to the military and left our forces almost disarmed! The US military was basically a bunch of fat and happy garrison troops vice hardcore well-trained asskickers, as the communists built up their forces worldwide. So once again, Democrats started a war that those who had to fight it, were ill-prepared and ill-equipped, shades of World War One and Two. (Seems Democrats NEVER learn) In fact, the US forces were suffering from demobilization which had sliced the military since the end of WW1. The infantry divisions sent to Korea to stop the NorK's were at 40% of paper strength and their bazookas and larger weapons were found to be useless. That is the situation that the "Fire Brigade" found itself inheriting.

"The critical manpower problem was to flesh out these units from their peacetime reductions so that they could fight with maximum effectiveness. By telegraph and telephone orders went out to regular Marines all over the country: "get to Pendleton NOW!" And so they came pouring in day and night by bus and plane and train, a flood of men from 105 posts and stations." The 1st Provisional Marine Brigade sailed from San Diego on 14 July, 1950, with Marines pulled right out of boot camp, some still weeks away from graduating, and sailed to Korea with only small arms and hand grenades. When they landed on 2 August, the commies were only 40 miles away.

As usual, the Green Machine went in with old equipment and performed miracles with it.

"Tucked away in the California desert was the huge Marine Supply Depot at Barstow. It had been filled five years earlier by following a prudent, far-seeing policy that countless past emergencies had taught the Marine Corps: "When you get a chance to stock up, do it, because you’ll never know when you’ll really need it!" Thus, at the end of World War II, Marine salvage teams had looked around the Pacific islands for abandoned equipment. Then they brought it back to Barstow, repainted it "Marine green," stenciled "USMC" on it, and "mothballed" it for future use. From this treasure trove came the old jeeps, the old trucks, and the old amphibian tractors that would be so vital to the brigade’s operations."

On 7 August, 1950, eight years after landing at "The Canal", where they gave the Japanese a thrashing, Marines began to teach the NKPA something that the enemies of America have been learning to their dismay since 1776.

"Firing now from the heights, the Marine riflemen put on another display of precise marksmanship that must have stunned the simple peasant soldiers of the NKPA: the "yellow leggings" could kill with aimed fire at 400-500 yards. (Just as the Marines in that earlier brigade in France had stunned the Germans at Belleau Wood with trained rifle fire that killed at long range.)" When the NPKA fought back, the boys in the "Fire Brigade" were called to plug the gap at the Naktong Bulge. They annihilated the NPKA's 4th Division in a combined arms attack with Marine air and artillery arms. In a third crisis, (the Second Battle of the Naktong), they nearly wiped out the reconstituted 4th Division AND the 9th Division in three days.

They won a Korean Presidential Unit Citation for: "outstanding and heroic performance of duty on the field of battle." and a U.S. Presidential Unit Citation for: "extraordinary heroism in action, relentless determination, sheer resolution and espirit de corps."

"The Marine Corps had again decisively demonstrated that it was truly a "force in readiness," and that its rugged training and traditional esprit de corps could lead it to victory in "every clime and place."

The Pusan Perimeter—Korea 1950: "The Marines stood and fought, and they took care of their own." Edwin P. Hoyt.

So today, when you're drinking a cold one, enjoying a nice BBQ, take a moment and remember the Marines (and a few Army troops!) who saved a nation from being overrun by Godless communist bastards, encouraged, as usual, by Democrat weak sisters. The boys in the "Fire Brigade," the 1st Provisional Marine Brigade.

  1. Back in the '50's there was a tv program, "The Big Picture" which was about the US Army. In one episode it said the Army did the very thing the Corps had done earlier. Except the Army waited until Korean brawl broke out then went back to all the islands for tanks, jeeps and such. They shipped the equipment directly to Japan where they were refitted and sent to Korea.
    Kinda shows the different trains of thought. The Jarheads did it before they needed it; the Army didn't. But both raided the Pacific battlefields.

  3. Gunny,

    Google hasn't been letting me post comments for a while; kind of prophetic that I can respond to this post. We the strong have protected the weak for so long that they now outnumber us. Thank God the Marine Corpos will always be there in our time of need.

    Have a solemn Memorial Day.

  4. Buck,

    I did not know that!

    I DO know that when I was a young PFC, before Ronaldus Magnus was elected, we still had jeeps and gamma goats from the FIFTIES! I believe in using equipment as much as possible before junking it but that was too much.

    BTW, numerous Army units fought well in the Puan Perimeter, I was not leaving them out. Both of my uncles were grunts in Korea in the Army and saw a lot of combat.

    May all who gave all rest in peace and honor.

  6. TGP,

    I have trouble posting as well! I have had to write my essays in word and copy and paste because google bombs out sometimes! Obama's fault!

    What I fear is that this generation now coming up has no idea of what it means to be patriotic and to love their nation and thus, serve in the military. That is the way Rome fell.

  8. Why is it that "Duty, Honor and Country" seem to be alien concepts to most libs?
